Cueva del Viento is a volcanic tube on three levels under the north slope at Icod de los Vinos, eighteen kilometres of it mapped — the largest volcanic tube in the European Union. Visits are run by the cave’s own centre in groups capped at fifteen, with helmets and headlamps issued, and tickets have to be bought online in advance. No operator resells them, which is why a Tenerife lava cave tour does not appear in any booking catalogue including ours.

We list every sightseeing tour on this island and none of them includes the lava cave. Rather than pretend otherwise, here is the honest version: book the cave directly, then use a tour for the rest of the day — the same corner of the island holds the drago at Icod and the buried harbour at Garachico.
