THE VERDICT

€59 for eight hours and four of the island’s best-known places — Teide, the drago at Icod, Garachico and Masca. ★4.4 from 1 881 with value at 4.5, so most people think the arithmetic works. The one thing everybody says is that it is rushed, and four stops in eight hours is why.

EIGHT HOURS, FOUR PLACES

South coast to the north-west and back

pickup From your hotel in the south — the only zone collected
Vilaflor Up through the Canary pines at about 1 400 m
Las Cañadas The caldera floor, its lava flows and rock formations
Icod The drago, and free time to find your own lunch
Garachico The town the 1706 eruption rebuilt, and its lava pools
Masca The gorge village, and the road down to it

Route from the operator’s own description, read 15 September 2026. Lunch is free time at Icod and is not in the price.

IN DEPTH

The detail behind the verdict

Read the inclusions block carefully before you book. Scan it quickly and you will see the words lunch and cable car ride; both sit on the not-included side, and the description settles it in its own words — "free time to have lunch (not included)". The cable car appears nowhere in the route at all. What is included is the pickup, the vehicle and the guide, and that guide is worth having: 4.7, with reviews in four languages naming the same person switching between them.

The day itself is a genuine crossing of the island. You climb the south side through Vilaflor into Las Cañadas, drop to Icod for the thousand-year drago and the lunch stop, carry on to Garachico where the 1706 lava built the rock pools, and finish on the Masca road. That is a lot of ground, and the recurring note in the feedback is exactly what you would expect — more time at Teide and at Masca, please. Two practical lines.

Pickup is from the south only, so this is not a booking for a Puerto de la Cruz holiday. And the operator says plainly that the return time is not guaranteed and that weather can close the park roads, in which case the itinerary changes and you get longer somewhere else. One correction, the third operator to make it: Vilaflor is called the highest village in Spain. It sits at about 1 400 m and is the highest in the Canary Islands.

Questions about this tour

Is the Teide, Icod, Garachico and Masca full-day tour worth it?

At €59 for eight hours and four places, it is the cheapest way to see this much of the island in a day — ★4.4 from 1 881, value 4.5. Expect a full schedule rather than a leisurely one.

Is lunch included?

No. The inclusions block can read as though it is, but the description says "free time to have lunch (not included)". There is a restaurant stop at Icod and you pay for yourself.

Does it include the cable car?

No. The cable car does not appear anywhere in the route, and the words on the listing sit on the not-included side. If riding it matters to you, book a tour that names it.

Does it pick up in the north?

No — pickups are from the south of the island only, and the operator states it twice. From Puerto de la Cruz this is the wrong booking.

Is it rushed?

That is the recurring word in the feedback, and the maths supports it: four major stops plus the driving inside eight hours. People most often ask for longer at Teide and at Masca.

What if the park roads are closed?

The operator says the itinerary is modified and you are given more time at the other sites. Snow and wind do close the upper roads in winter, so this is a real scenario rather than boilerplate.

Is Vilaflor the highest village in Spain?

No, and this is the third operator on our pages to say so. Vilaflor sits at about 1 400 m and is the highest village in the Canary Islands; Valdelinares on the mainland is higher.

What language is the guide?

Spanish, English, French and German. Reviews in all four languages name the same guide switching between them, which is the strongest thing about this listing.

What should I wear?

Comfortable shoes — there is walking at every stop — and a layer for the park. The caldera sits around 2 000 m and is a different climate from your hotel.

Can I cancel?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before, per the listing checked on 15 September 2026.
