THE VERDICT

One of two products in our set that carry the €42 lift ticket inside the price — and the only one whose terms promise that money back when the wind shuts the station. The other €50 buys seven hours, a guide and pickup from either coast. It carries the lowest rating of anything we feature — ★4.3 — and the reason is structural rather than sloppy: it is a coach day built around a lift that the wind can shut.

SEVEN HOURS, IN ORDER

What the day is made of

about 80 min Hotel pickup and the climb into the park — the listing carries fifty-six pickup points
in the park The caldera floor with an official guide, before the lift
8 min The cable car itself, from 2 356 m to the upper station at 3 555 m
at the top Free time on the three open trails — Pico Viejo and La Fortaleza lookouts, and the Telesforo Bravo path, which needs its own permit
at the top The Teide Legend audio guide and the Science & Legend exhibit, both at no extra cost
late Back down to the coast, dropping at the same fifty-six points

From the operator’s own description and itinerary, read 14 September 2026. The coach leg is listed at eighty minutes; pickup points run from Los Gigantes to Santa Cruz, so your own leg may be longer or shorter.

IN DEPTH

The detail behind the verdict

Book the cable car yourself and you have two problems: the €42 slot has to be timed against a tour you also booked, and if the wind closes the lift that €42 is your loss. This tour removes both. It is the official Volcano Teide product, so the ticket is inside the price, and when the lift does close the day still runs, the ticket portion is refunded and another route is offered. What you give up is intimacy: this is a coach with fifty-six possible pickup points, not a minivan capped at eight.

Read the footwear rule before you book — closed shoes with high-grip soles are compulsory, and heels, platforms, beach shoes, flat soles and open shoes are all expressly refused at the lift. People are turned back for this. The upper station sits at 3 555 m, eight minutes up, with three free trails from the door; the operator’s page gives the summit as 3 718 m, which is the trigonometric figure from 1920 — the surveyed height is 3 715 m.

Questions about this tour

Is the Mount Teide tour with cable car worth it?

At €92 with the €42 ticket inside, the tour part costs about €50 for seven hours with a guide and island-wide pickup. That is fair. The ★4.3 is the lowest of anything we feature, and it reflects a day whose centrepiece can be closed by weather rather than poor organisation.

What happens if the wind closes the cable car?

The tour still runs, the price of the cable car is refunded and the operator offers an alternative route. That is the real argument for booking the ticket this way: a €42 ticket you bought yourself in the same situation is simply gone.

What shoes do I need?

Closed mountain or sports shoes with high-grip, non-slip soles, and it is not a suggestion. The lift expressly refuses high heels, wedges, platforms, water or beach shoes, flat-soled shoes and open shoes.

Does it go to the summit?

No tour can take you there. The upper station is at 3 555 m and the last stretch to the crater is the Telesforo Bravo path, which needs a permit of its own — €15 for non-residents in the 09:00–17:00 window, booked weeks ahead through Tenerife ON.

Where does it pick up?

Both coasts. The listing carries fifty-six pickup points, from Los Gigantes and the southern resorts to Puerto de la Cruz and Santa Cruz — which is unusual, since most Teide products serve one side only.

Is it a small group?

No. It is a coach, and that is the trade for the island-wide pickup. If eight seats matter more to you than the lift, the From South Tenerife: Teide National Park Tour is €70 for four hours from the south with a hard cap of eight.

Is food included?

Nothing is. Bring water, and note that large bags are not allowed on board, so pack small.

Who should not take this tour?

The operator lists pregnant travellers, people with heart or respiratory conditions, anyone with a pre-existing medical condition and children under three. The upper station is above 3 500 m, and that is the reason.

What language is the guide?

Spanish, German, English, French, Dutch and Italian are offered, but the French departure does not run on Wednesday, Thursday or Sunday. Check the language on the date you want.

Can I cancel?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start time, per the listing checked on 14 September 2026. In winter the operator also warns that snow, ice or rockfall on the access roads can cancel a departure at short notice.
